The Potential Rebirth Of The WWE Women's Division

Hey Yo, It’s ”The Wrestling Takeover” host Jordan here with another opinion piece on the potential rebirth of the WWE Women’s division. Today’s article will be based on positives regarding the women’s division and women’s wrestling in general in WWE. A couple of weeks ago, women’s wrestling was mistreated and misguided. Now with Triple H ”Paul Levesque” running creative, I have a lot of optimism regarding the direction of the women’s division in WWE. Be sure to check out all of my other previous articles on the website, as there are a lot of them that you all can go and read. Enjoy the article!

The Previous State Of The Women’s Division

WWE, when it was run by Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard on the creative side of things, was embarrassing the division. They would use the same people like Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. We respect these four future HOFs, but the problem was that Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard weren’t interested in booking any other female talents until Ronda Rousey came into the fold. Now he was alongside these four ladies in that Vince McMahon was only thinking about these five ladies. Sprinkle in a Carmella and Alexa Bliss as people Vince McMahon loved to push, but his main priority was Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.

Suddenly, we saw a shift where Bianca Belair was headed up to the main roster, and now his top priority was to include Bianca Belair along with the OG’s that he was pushing from the start. It didn’t sit right with many fans; they got tired of the same people and wanted to see new people in the forefront of the division. No more using the same women.

Give Us Storylines and Character Development

I can’t explain that character development and storylines are important, and WWE has lost that art, especially regarding the women’s division. The division lacks those aspects; I do believe that WWE can tell great stories when it comes to the women’s division. One thing that we do need to see consistently is character development. The issue with that is we have no characters, and you look at the landscape of the women’s division, and there’s not one single character. Give these ladies personality and let them develop their character. Or, to make it easier, have them be themselves while applying a character to it, and that will get the viewer invested in what you’re trying to sell.

Look Towards The Future

Triple H has always loved women’s wrestling. He’s always taken care of it in his days in NXT, and he’s going to push new women. Future women stars like IYO Sky (Io Shirai), Dakota Kai, Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacey Jane, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, and others. Also, we can potentially bring in more women to WWE from other promotions. The women’s division has potential stars in the pipeline in NXT, like Tiffany Stratan, Aaliyah, Nikkita Lyons, and Ivy Nile, among others. Rebuild up people like Dana Brooke, Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans, Carmella, and others. With Triple H running things now, it will be interesting to see who he pushes, who he signs, and who he doesn’t.
